Diversity Initiatives in the United States Navy

“America’s Navy Reflects the Face of Our Nation” will be discussed at the free Faces of Diversity Brown Bag series at noon Friday, March 19, at the Phoenix City Council Chambers, 200 W. Washington St.

Commander Darryl Toppin, commanding officer of Naval Recruiting District Phoenix, will be discussing the importance of diversity in building a stronger Navy and the initiatives that the Navy is taking in order to ensure that America’s Navy reflects the face of our nation.

He will present information on the Navy’s Diversity Outreach Program and will discuss how the Navy values diversity of opinion, diversity of background and diversity of culture and how all of those things make our Navy stronger as it reflects all parts of our country.

The free event is co-sponsored by the Phoenix Human Relations Commission and the city’s Equal Opportunity Department. It features dynamic people telling their stories about diversity.
